In 1988, Tom Bird and Ken Saxon acquired First American Records Management (FARM), and then shared the CEO/President duties for 7 years. They remained as majority owners until the company was sold in April 1999. Under their direction, FARM became the premier provider of records and information management services to Silicon Valley. FARM enjoyed a twenty-fold increase in revenue, provided a 10 year IRR of 53%, and was recognized in 1995 with the Arthur Anderson "Best Practices Award" for Motivating, Training and Retaining Employees.
Since 1996, Ken and Tom have been applying some of the lessons learned while building their own company to the world of private equity investing. They focus on niche business service industries. Tom and Ken focus their energies on the growth challenges of portfolio companies, supporting management in the areas of marketing, strategy, sales execution, customer service, corporate finance and executive recruiting. They also apply similar skill sets in supporting the growth challenges of many non-profit organizations.
Tom is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Stanford's Graduate School of Business and Harvard Divinity School, and he lives with his wife and 2 children in Concord, Massachusetts. Ken is a graduate of Princeton University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and he lives with his wife and 2 children in Santa Barbara, California
